Gail Ronald Cary, age 83, of Mt. Auburn, IL, passed away on June 2, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, IL. Born on February 25, 1941, in Mechanicsburg, IL, he was the son of the late Russell and Margaret (Porter) Cary. Gail is survived by his wife, Betty (Snyder) Cary, whom he married on June 25, 1992, in Mt. Auburn.
A dedicated United States Army veteran, Gail served during the Vietnam Era from 1964-1965 and was a proud 50-year member of the American Legion. His career spanned 23 ½ years at Fiat Allis in Springfield and 17 years at Airfloat Systems in Decatur. A Master Mason since 1976, Gail was a 48-year member of Kedron Lodge #340 and became an Ansar Shrine Noble in 2001, where he served as a hospitality aide to the Potentate for eight years. He was actively involved in the Christian County Shrine Club and the Ag Corps antique tractor parade unit, serving several years as its President.
