John David Paulding, known as "David" to his loved ones, died peacefully on January 15, 2025, at 89. He was a devoted patriot, loving husband, father, and loyal friend. His life of service, integrity, and unwavering sense of duty inspire us all.
David, the son of John and Pearl Paulding, was born on April 2, 1935, in Greenville, Illinois. He graduated from Vandalia High School with the class of 1953. His thirst for knowledge led him to pursue higher education at the University of Illinois, a testament to his dedication to learning and personal growth.
In 1959, David began his military service in France until 1961. His commitment to service led him to the Vietnam War. In 1965, he served in the Army, followed by an additional six years with Air America, operating in Vietnam and Laos.
Upon his return from Southeast Asia, David embarked on a lengthy career in civil service, dedicating over 37 years to the Department of Defense. His service to his country spanned the military and civilian
