Janice Eileen Funderburk, 99, of Taylorville passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 7:45 a.m. at High Point Residence in Taylorville. She was born on June 18, 1925, in Morrisonville, IL, the daughter of Homer Dayton and Lauren Mae (Hill) Armitage. She married R. Halden Funderburk in 1947 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on December 1, 1995.
Janice was a member of the Taylorville United Methodist Church, HEA- King Unit, Bear Creek Builders 4-H leader, Harvel Happy Hatters, SIA, Christian County Lady Landowners, Christian County Historical Society and United Methodist Women. She loved to travel, was an accomplished seamstress, active gardener of vegetables and flowers along with planting trees. Janice was an excellent teacher and lifelong learner.
Janice is survived by her children: Lynn (Sharon) Funderburk of Morrisonville, IL; Beverly (Mike) Smith of Peoria, AZ; Nancy (Terry) Spooner of Peoria, IL; Judy Walden of Girard, IL; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren
