Joseph G. David, 77, of Sharpsburg, IL, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 8:13 a.m. at his residence surrounded by family.
Joseph was born December 14, 1947, in Springfield, IL, the son of Joseph G. and Louise (Blanche) David. He married Nancy Vice on June 12, 1971, at Farmington Presbyterian Church. She preceded him in death on November 23, 2015.
Surviving is his daughter, Carol "Sue" Smith; his grandchild, Tyler Joseph Smith; his great-grandchildren, Dawson, Easton, and Madeline Smith; his siblings, Suzanne Fowler and Donna Durham Chase; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and his faithful beloved service dog, Mister Luke. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.
His Niece, Amy Cook, was his closest friend and main caregiver for the past four years. She took great care of him and loved him like a second father.
Joseph graduated from Feitshans High School in Springfield, class of 1965. After high school, he was drafted in the Army in 19
