Alice Rose ChastainApril 11, 1925 - February 26, 2025Alice Rose Chastain, of Decatur, Illinois, died peacefully on February 26, 2025, in the home of her daughter, Julie Chastain of Hopkinsville, KY. She was six weeks away from her 100th birthday and had lived independently in her own home until the last few years.Alice was born on April 11, 1925, the third child of Charles Herbert Marsh and Janie Mae (Stogsdill) Marsh. She grew up on a family farm outside of Maroa, IL, and attended Willow Glen Country School. After graduating from Argenta High School in 1943, Alice relocated to Decatur and worked at A.E. Staley Co. in support of the war effort. She later took a position as an administrative assistant at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Decatur, where she met her future husband, E.M. (Buck) Chastain, who, along with his brother Homer, was establishing the local civil engineering firm now known as Chastain & Associates.
